When a patient asks an AI tool for a "dentist near me open Saturday" or "emergency dentist that takes my insurance", the answer depends on facts it can find and trust. AI search optimization for dentists is mostly about publishing those facts clearly and keeping them consistent.
Publish the Facts Behind Near Me Questions
Dental questions to AI tools tend to combine a need with a condition:
- Open on Saturday, or in the evening
- Accepting new patients
- Takes a specific insurance plan
- Sees children, or anxious patients
- Can see emergencies the same day
Each of these needs to be stated in plain text on your website and match your Google Business Profile. Hours belong in the profile's hours fields, including holiday changes, not just in a banner image. If an assistant cannot confirm you are open on Saturday, it is unlikely to suggest you for that question.
List Insurance Plans in Plain Text
Many practices show insurance logos in an image. People can read them, but text is far easier for search tools to use. Write the plan names out, say whether you are in network or out of network for each, and update the list when contracts change. If you offer payment plans or a membership plan, describe them on the same page.
Give Each Treatment Its Own Page
Implants, crowns, clear aligners, whitening, root canals and emergency care each deserve a page patients can read in a few minutes. Cover what happens at each visit, who performs it and how to book. The clinical content should be written or reviewed by a dentist, and none of it should promise outcomes.
Short question and answer sections help both patients and AI tools. My guide on FAQ content for AI answers covers how to write them so they stand on their own.
Check What AI Tools Say About You Now
Before changing anything, I ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI features the questions your patients ask and note what comes back: wrong hours, an old address, a missing location. Each error usually traces back to a page or listing that needs fixing. Google's advice on appearing in AI features points back to the same basics: clear, accurate, helpful pages.
Start With a Free Practice Website Review
A free website review of your practice site lists the missing or inconsistent details most likely to affect how AI tools describe you.
Common questions
What is AEO for dentists?
It is the work of making a dental practice's details, such as hours, insurance accepted, treatments and new patient status, clear and consistent so AI search tools can describe the practice accurately. It builds on the same pages that support regular search.
Can you guarantee my practice appears in AI answers?
No. Nobody controls which practices AI tools mention. What I can do is remove the gaps and inconsistencies that make it harder for those tools to understand and trust your information, and check the results over time.
Do treatment pages need to be written by a dentist?
The clinical content should be written or reviewed by a dentist at the practice. I can structure the pages, write the non-clinical parts and make them easy to read, but treatment details need professional sign-off.
